Walking in God's Presence

DAY 3 OF 7

Step by Step

Life is a balancing act. We do our best to make wise decisions, yet we know God is the one truly in control. This isn’t to say our choices don’t matter. Our decisions have an obvious impact on our lives, and they shape the direction we take. God lovingly and wisely reveals what is best, and we get to experience the benefits or consequences of the path we choose. If we let him direct our steps, we can be sure to stay on the path that leads to eternal life.

Allowing God to guide you through life doesn’t mean you won’t experience pain or suffering. These things cannot be avoided, and they are part of the human experience. Trials often produce good things in your life. God is present and at work even in hardship and suffering. He can use the challenges in your life to produce good character, perseverance, and deeper trust in him. He can take seemingly hopeless situations and use them for his glory and your good. He faithfully creates beauty out of ashes.

If you follow God faithfully, you can be assured that he will direct your steps and keep you steady no matter what situations you face. Keep your eyes focused on him and your ears attuned to his voice. His leadership is not harsh, loud, or demanding. His voice is steady, truthful, peaceful, and kind. Everything he says lines up with his perfect character. He will not ask you to do anything that is contrary to his character or his Word.

As you follow the Lord, he will uphold you when times are tough, and he will encourage you when you are weary. He offers you comfort and peace even when you are unsure where to go. He provides rest when you are burdened and strength when you feel weak. He never leaves you alone to navigate your life. He is always near, and he has exactly what you need.

If God is ordering your steps, you can walk forward with confidence. Loosen your grasp on your own expectations and experience the contentedness that comes from giving God control. Declare your trust in him and remind yourself that he will not lead you astray. Life might not always look how you want, but your faithful Father will never leave your side.
