Acts - Until Everyone KnowsSample

Acts 12
After King Herod Agrippa has James killed, Peter is arrested and is imminently facing a similar fate. A mere 16 macho soldiers are assigned to guard him, just to make sure he doesn’t go anywhere! However, like a scene taken out of a Hollywood blockbuster movie, Peter’s Angelic Helper leads him out of prison in plain sight! Behind the scenes, we read that his fellow Christians are desperately praying for a breakthrough, so when Peter knocks on the door where they are gathered to pray, they struggle to believe it really is him outside. No one believes poor Rhoda, who has answered the door!
It's so precious and descriptive how the writer includes details of the prison break - from the whack of the Angel, to the chains falling off Peter’s wrists, to Peter waltzing down the street in the middle of the night – we really can get a sense of this whirlwind experience. As strange as it may sound, all of these events magnify God and the Power of Prayer.
Do you pray audacious prayers? Sometimes you are moved to pray big when you are desperate, like these early Christians, and you might be going through something significant now. Do you genuinely believe that God can answer your big prayers, or do you have doubts? God is Mighty and able to do all things, so remind yourself of what He has done in the past and be expectant for what He is going to do!
Thank You, God, that You are Sovereign and All-Powerful. I trust You as the Good Shepherd and ask boldly that you would break off physical, emotional, and spiritual chains from people I know who are trapped. Please lead them to safety and to a church family who can welcome them in. Amen.

About this Plan

In Acts, we read about the Early Church taking its first steps to go out to the nations. This happened because ordinary people were filled with the Holy Spirit, enabling them to share the Good News of Jesus and bring healing and freedom. God has designed you to walk in the same Power today! As you learn from this Book, one chapter a day, and read the Devotional, consider this question: How can I step out more to share the Good News of Jesus in the Power of the Holy Spirit?
