Change is hard. We can often become creatures of habit and resistant to things that are different from what we prefer. The same seat, singing our favorite songs, doing things the "proper" way.

Even though God had clearly spoken to Peter and powerfully worked through the Gentiles that heard his message, the other Jewish believers still needed convincing. Thankfully, through Peter’s testimony, these believers came around to the fact that Gentiles (non-Jews) could also hear the Gospel and be filled with the Holy Spirit – a Gift that the prophet Joel had said would be poured out on all people (Joel 2:28-29).

There may come a point in your life where you will need to speak up for things that are contrary to God’s Word and Will, just like Peter did. Christians can fall into subtle patterns that possibly reduce the effectiveness of their witness. In prayer, allow God to show you any behaviors that aren’t motivated by His Compassion. God’s Word never changes, but sometimes your methods have to.

Are there any areas of your life and faith where you may have grown too comfortable? Are you willing to get uncomfortable so that others can experience the Love of God in a fresh way?

Lord Jesus, thank You for Your Patience towards me and for loving me with all my ups and downs. Would You help me today to be an enabler, not a blocker for people to hear Your incredible Good News? Amen.
