Acts - Until Everyone Knows

DAY 28 OF 28

Acts 28

In this final chapter of Acts, we see the last part of Paul’s epic journey to Rome in order to appear before Caesar. Having abandoned the ship, Paul and all those on board find themselves on the island of Malta. The Power of God is seen through Paul’s life once again. Firstly, a snake bites him and he suffers no effects (v. 5). Then he heals the chief official’s father (v. 8), and so sick people from all over the island come and receive healing (v. 9). Luke, the author, also makes it clear that he is present during all of this as a supportive companion (vs. 1,2,7,10-16).

Three months later, they continue on towards Rome, meeting some "brothers and sisters" in Puteoli (v. 14), followed by more "brothers and sisters" (v. 15) who travel from Rome to meet them. Once Paul arrives in Rome, he lives in a house with a soldier to guard him. We do not know the final outcome of his appeal, but Luke finishes with the very heart of his whole account - the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ continues to be proclaimed with all boldness and without hindrance (v. 31).

It is amazing to be part of God’s Family! When you are following Jesus, you can enjoy constant fellowship with the Holy Spirit because He dwells in you. Secondly, God gives us faithful companions to walk with through this journey of life, with all its blessings and battles. Luke, the "beloved physician" (Colossians 4:14), was there, faithfully joining Paul on his ministry journeys. Which friend could you faithfully support during this season?

Finally, God allows us to meet other "brothers and sisters" along the way. You may have never met them, but your shared faith in Jesus connects you in a special way that the world may not understand. Your shared hope in the Gospel causes you to overflow with Love and Gratitude.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the Gift of Godly friends - the companions close by and the ones I meet along the way. Finally, thank You for the Gift of this Book of Acts. I am amazed by the Work of the Holy Spirit in so many powerful ways. Break out in Power through my life today! Let Jesus Christ be Glorified. Amen and amen!

About this Plan

Acts - Until Everyone Knows

In Acts, we read about the Early Church taking its first steps to go out to the nations. This happened because ordinary people were filled with the Holy Spirit, enabling them to share the Good News of Jesus and bring healing and freedom. God has designed you to walk in the same Power today! As you learn from this Book, one chapter a day, and read the Devotional, consider this question: How can I step out more to share the Good News of Jesus in the Power of the Holy Spirit?
