Holy Week

DAY 6 OF 7

Day 6: Holy Saturday

Read Matthew 27:57–66

Holy Saturday is a day like no other in Holy Week - a day when the world stood still, holding its breath.

The silence of the tomb was deafening. For those who followed Jesus, this was a day of waiting. And waiting. And waiting.

The uncertainty must have been overwhelming.

What now?

Is He really going to rise from the dead?

What if He doesn’t? What will become of us, His followers?

The stone had been rolled firmly across the entrance of the tomb. Sealed tightly by the religious leaders and Pharisees, it stood as a symbol of finality - a barrier they thought could prevent any claims of resurrection.

Yet, that day, nothing seemed to happen. All was silent. At least on the surface...

Can you relate to this state of limbo? To waiting in the silence, not knowing what’s next?

Maybe you’ve been praying to conceive a child but are met with silence.

Maybe you’re longing for a spouse to begin a family, yet the waiting feels endless.

Or perhaps you’re waiting for breakthrough in another area of life, wondering if God is still there.

In these moments of silent waiting, it’s easy to assume nothing is happening. But the truth is, God is always at work.

He is the God who “never sleeps nor slumbers” (Psalm 121:4). Even when we cannot see or understand, He is moving beneath the surface.

Take a moment to reflect:

  • What situations in your life feel like Holy Saturday - quiet and uncertain?
  • How can you lean on God’s faithfulness in the waiting?
  • What testimonies can you recall that remind you of His goodness and His unwavering care for His children?

Friends, speak to your soul today. Trust in the God who does not abandon His people. Though the tomb seemed silent, we know now it wasn’t the end of the story.

Things may appear quiet right now, but you never know what God is preparing beneath the surface.

Hold on. Resurrection is coming.

Father God,

Please teach me to wait on You with hope and trust, knowing Your promises will never fail. Remind me that I do not have to be able to see what you are doing to know that you are working. Thank you that you are faithful and that you always work for our good.

In Jesus’ name, amen.
