Holy Week

DAY 4 OF 7

Day 4: The Last Supper

Read Luke 22:14–20

Holy Week is a tapestry of profound and sacred moments - moments that have shaped the very foundation of our faith.

One such moment is The Last Supper.

Picture it: Jesus, fully aware of the suffering that lies ahead, gathers His disciples for one final meal. With a heart full of love and purpose, He breaks the bread and pours the wine, telling them, “This is My body, broken for you. This is My blood, poured out for the forgiveness of sins.”

It’s overwhelming to comprehend how one man’s suffering could atone for the sins of the world. But this was no ordinary man - this was God Himself. Perfect. Holy. Sinless.

Only Jesus, the spotless Lamb of God, could offer such a sacrifice. And that is what makes it so powerful, so beautiful, so final.

Today, I invite you to pause.

Don’t rush through this devotional as just another task to check off your list. Instead, linger in His presence.

If you can, bring a cup of wine or juice and some bread to your table. Let these symbols remind you afresh of Christ’s immense love and His willingness to endure the cross for you.

Take communion, not as a ritual, but as an intimate moment to remember Him. Reflect on the depth of His sacrifice and the boundless forgiveness it brings.

As you sit with the Lord, ask yourself:

  • How can I embody Jesus’ self-giving love in my relationships?
  • In what ways can I serve others as He has served me?

Consider one specific way you can reflect His love today or in the days leading up to Easter. Maybe it’s offering forgiveness, extending kindness, or simply being present with someone who needs your time.

Most importantly, let this be a day where you delight in His presence. Sit with Jesus. Thank Him for His love. Rest in the knowledge that He gave everything for you.

Remember His words: “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” (John 15:13).

This is the love of Christ. It’s personal. It’s sacrificial. And it’s for you.

Father God,

Thank You for sending Jesus. Thank you, Jesus for your ultimate sacrifice. Please help me to live in gratitude for what you have done and to share your love with others. May I always remember the significance and the weight of communion and commit to worshiping you all the days of my life.

In Jesus’ name, amen.
