Prayer Initiative : RevelationSample

Many years ago, people said to each other: "Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves…" (Genesis 11:4).
This was Babel. People refused to have God as their King and started building a kingdom of their own. They de-throned God.
A few centuries later we find the city of Babel again. Nebuchadnezzar, its king, surveys his city and pridefully marvels: "Is not this the great Babylon I have built as the royal residence, by my mighty power and for the glory of my majesty?" (Daniel 4:30)
When we get to the last book of the Bible, we can understand why John sees Babylon again. This city embodies the kingdom of the earth, the boastful pride of the world: "The woman was dressed in purple and scarlet, and was glittering with gold, precious stones, and pearls. She held a golden cup in her hand, filled with abominable things and the filth of her adulteries (Revelation 17:4). Babylon is also "drunk with the blood" of believers. She is supported by kings, who will join forces together to make war on the Lamb.
But, despite its power and majesty Babylon will fall: "The Lamb will triumph over them because He is the Lord of lords and King of kings – and with Him will be His called, chosen and faithful followers" (Revelation 17:14).
Take a moment to ponder on what you've read and respond to God in prayer.

About this Plan

Welcome to the 21 days of prayer initiative! This prayer guide is not meant to give a thorough exegesis of Revelation. Rather, it is a prompting to draw you closer to God. Consider His majesty, recognize His justice, and bow in awe before the King of kings and Lord of lords.
