Sorry Not SorrySample
If you’re looking to go see a movie anytime soon, chances are one of your choices will be some sort of superhero film. They’re incredibly popular, and for good reason! They all tend to follow a similar formula: An unassuming person goes through a traumatic event, which causes them to want to become a better person (or hero) to help others in need. But there’s one other character in the mix we can’t forget. A character who also goes through a traumatic event but, instead of using it as fuel to help others, turns to a life of vengeance. Instead of being a help to mankind, their sole focus is on getting even. They’re motivated by the grudge they hold and the desire for revenge it brings out in them.
Though we’re rooting for the hero, most of us, if we’re honest, would say we understand where the villain is coming from. Their drive and determination for revenge make sense to us. It can almost feel justified. Because sometimes getting even seems like the right thing to do. When we’re wronged or slighted, it can feel like the only way to move forward would be to make the other person pay. Because that’s our nature, we must constantly remind ourselves that God calls us to another way. When we put our faith and trust in Jesus, we’re set apart. That means our response to wrongs in this life should be set apart, too.
God calls us to look beyond what the world is telling us to see as the right way to respond to the hurts done to us. We can look to His Word to help us set our hearts on better things—things that are eternal and everlasting.

About this Plan
Forgiveness feels like something that we know we should do, but it isn’t always something we actually do. We all sometimes find it hard to live out forgiveness in our everyday lives. It’s hard to find a way to let go, but what if there is a way to let go and forgive? In this devotional, we’ll look at the way forgiveness can work in our lives to move us toward freedom for ourselves and others.
