DAY 9 OF 10

The Promise of Intimacy

Intimacy in Scripture is a deep spiritual connection with God characterized by trust, love, and vulnerability. God’s Word highlights the beauty of cultivating a close, personal relationship with Jesus Christ and the Father; it reminds us of the transformative power of such bonds.

God, as your Father, longs for a deep and intimate relationship with you, desiring consistent fellowship throughout your day. James 4:8 reminds us that as we draw near to Him, He will draw near to us. Because of grace through Jesus Christ, we can confidently approach the Father (Hebrews 4:16). God's desire for closeness is so great that He sacrificed His Son, Jesus, to restore our connection and make us righteous. We find assurance in 2 Corinthians 5:21 that God made Christ the offering for our sin so we could be made right with Him.

Intimacy with the Father begins with a desire for a relationship with Jesus and a longing for His presence within you. Nurture that desire by developing the consistency of praising and worshiping God, dedicating daily time to His Word. Embrace His rest and stillness (Psalm 46:10), and you will find delight in your time spent with Him.

Experience intimacy with the Father as you cast aside any fears or discouragement. His unwavering bond with you provides strength and courage, assuring you that He is always by your side, as highlighted in Joshua 1:9. In your time of intimate moments of trust and closeness, the Father will guide your path as you earnestly seek His will, as promised in Proverbs 3:5-6.

Reflection: God has instilled in us an intense longing to be drawn to Him (John 6:44). By humbly setting aside time for intimacy with the Father and casting all your worries and cares upon Him, you connect with Him, for He truly cares for you (1 Peter 5:6-7). The Father desires a close, intimate relationship with you, uniting in one spirit with Him, as expressed in 1 Corinthians 6:17.
