DAY 6 OF 10

The Promise of Peace

What is the peace of God? God’s peace is a state of wholeness, completeness, and well-being; it goes beyond the absence of conflict or physical rest. In the Bible, the word peace in Greek is eirene (i-ray’-nay), meaning peace, one, quietness, rest, set at one again. It is one part of the fruit of the Spirit and a gift from God; it originates from God and aligns with His Will. Peace is also an action word to restore broken situations and relationships; therefore, peace is a choice to pursue actively in your daily living and thoughts.

Promises of peace from the Father include inner peace, which exceeds anything you or the world can comprehend and guards your heart and mind, Philippians 4:7. Another promise of peace is divine protection. Isaiah 26:3 tells us that when we trust Him and fix our thoughts on Him, God will keep us in perfect peace. And the promise of peace He gives removes the troubles you may be presently experiencing. Jesus also promised that the peace He gives is a gift beyond anything the world can provide and is a gift for your mind and heart, John 14:27.

Because of His promise of peace, you can cast all your cares and worries on Him (1 Peter 5:7). The peace that the Father gives will also sustain you and give you the strength not to be moved or fall from the path He has put you on (Psalm 55:22).

God’s Word reveals the path to experiencing His peace. Instead of worrying, let go of those concerns. Embrace the power of prayer, share your needs with the Father, and express gratitude for all He has done. As you grow in your knowledge and understanding of the Father and Jesus Christ, you will discover a greater sense of His peace, as promised in 2 Peter 1:2.

When worries and fears arise, remember that God has equipped you with a spirit of power and love, not fear (2 Timothy 1:7). Find peace in the finished work of Jesus Christ, who grants you rest and keeps you safe (Psalm 4:8).

Reflection: Whatever you are going through, remember that Jesus suffered anxiety, anguish, stress, and depression at His crucifixion, so you don’t have to. Grab on to and declare His peace over your trials and situations, and then you will have the peace of God.
