Revisiting My Serve

DAY 7 OF 7

Walk This Way- Day Seven

When we delve into the first ten verses of Ephesians 2, three vital truths emerge. First, it unveils who we were without God (vs. 1-3). Second, it reveals how God rescued us from ourselves (vs. 4-9). Third, it illustrates our new position in Christ Jesus (vs. 10). Once dead in trespasses and sins, we are now alive in Him! Formerly lost, now found! Once blind, now spiritually seeing! In saving us, Christ not only claimed us as His own but also crafted us to be His "workmanship." What makes this fact remarkable is that God ordained this role for us even before we belonged to Him! Paul employs the term "beforehand," the Greek word meaning "to ordain." When the Lord called us to be His workmanship, He predestined us as ministers for this purpose. This is the beauty of our salvation—we weren't saved because of our good works; we were saved to engage in good works. God continuously shapes us into a masterpiece, crafting us for acts of service in Him. Just as Christ is the Light of the world, we, too, become a light of service to those who observe. Jesus instructs us in Matthew 5:16, "Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven." Hence, our calling is not merely to attend church services but to tend to and serve the church. Our purpose is to serve, honor, love, uplift, and assist others, mirroring the actions of Jesus. Let it be our heartfelt desire to please the Lord through service and honor Him through worship. Let us learn to recognize our life's purpose as a worker of the Lord. Allow God to persist in fashioning you as His masterpiece, for good works, as you faithfully walk in obedience.

PRAYER

“Father God, I express gratitude for designing me for good works even before I knew You. Thank you for the grace that enables me to serve as Your representative. May my life be marked by unwavering obedience to You and a commitment to serve others, following the example set by Your Son. In Jesus' name, amen.”

Day 6

About this Plan

Revisiting My Serve

This devotional encourages us to reflect on our service to the Lord and engage in self-examination. How am I currently serving? Is serving others integrated into my daily life? What motivates me to serve? Over the next seven days, let's take time to evaluate our hearts and intentions regarding our acts of service.
