Revisiting My Serve

DAY 5 OF 7

Use Your Gifts- Day Five

At the moment of our salvation, each of us was endowed with spiritual gifts (The apostle Paul elaborates on this in 1 Corinthians 12). Whether it's the gift of wisdom, knowledge, faith, or healing, each bestowed by the Holy Spirit serves a purpose. These gifts aren't intended for self-indulgence or showcasing spiritual expertise; rather, their sole purpose is to bless, edify, and foster connection within the body of Christ.

Similar to the roles each player undertakes on a sports team, every individual member of the body of Christ holds an equally vital position. Just as a football team can't thrive without a running back, wide receiver, or quarterback, the absence of a member or their lack of involvement hampers the entire team. Each of us plays a specific role and holds a unique position within the body, and our absence and disengagement only diminish the team!

Beyond the forgiveness of sins and the restoration of our connection with God, salvation grants us the privilege of being part of a larger community—the CHURCH. God bestowed upon us spiritual gifts to contribute to this greater purpose. Peter encourages us to use our "special gift" and to "employ it in serving one another." In essence, let's actively use our gifts to bless others! It would be regrettable to think we might be a missing piece in God's grand design for our church and yet never engage in it.

Peter emphasizes "serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God." Our spiritual gifts should not be taken lightly or used carelessly; instead, Peter urges us to be good stewards. Serving effectively involves using our gifts wisely. Let's not conceal our gifts; instead, let's use them for God's glory and exemplify His grace by serving others.

PRAYER

“Holy Spirit, I am grateful for the gifts You have bestowed upon me. May I use these gifts for Your glory and the edification of the church. Forgive me for any shortcomings in stewarding my spiritual gifts, and empower me to bless others, demonstrating God's grace through my service. Thank you for entrusting me with the opportunity to be a blessing to others. In Jesus' name, amen.”

About this Plan

Revisiting My Serve

This devotional encourages us to reflect on our service to the Lord and engage in self-examination. How am I currently serving? Is serving others integrated into my daily life? What motivates me to serve? Over the next seven days, let's take time to evaluate our hearts and intentions regarding our acts of service.
