The Mystery Revealed

DAY 15 OF 27

Day 15: David Cruz, Levite at UPPERROOM

Ephesians 5

Oh, how I love the way the Apostle Paul communicates to the Church of Ephesus. The gospel doesn’t just reconcile us to God, but it reconciles us to each other. In the last few chapters of Ephesians, Paul goes into depth about how the gospel should affect our personal lives, community, and families, exhorting us and challenging us to live in unity, as this is the true response to the gospel. We are one body, unified by one Spirit, with one Lord, one faith, and one baptism to one God. As was stated in the previous chapter, Ephesians 5, we discover how we can be imitators of God by what was modeled by Christ.

Ephesians 5:1-2 says “We walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us.”

We learn that in order to maintain being imitators of God, we must have a continual infilling of the Holy Spirit to resist the temptation of sin surrounding us. We learn that since we’ve been transformed, we cannot live in our old human nature, which was sinful and unclean, but live out our new human nature, which is Holy and clean, and this is only done by being tethered to the gospel and by the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. I also love this chapter because we get a picture of what marriage should look like by seeing Christ’s covenant with the Church. I’m getting emotional as I write this. This section is so sobering in how I love my wife, Devon.

Prayer: Father, thank you for the ministry of the Holy Spirit that continues to reveal Christ and empowers me to be just like Him. Help me to stay close and tethered to You. I need you in every breath I take. It takes You, just to love You, and the people around me. Holy Spirit, continue to fill me. I throw myself on Your Mercy. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
