The Mystery RevealedSample
Day 14: Selena Hope, Production Director at UPPERROOM
Ephesians 3-4
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God,” and it is in the seeing of Him, that we ourselves are also revealed.
This dimension of God always almost breaks my mind and is often so hard for me to move on from. That somehow the question of “Who am I?” is best answered with the confident declaration of, “Father, You are.” It is in the light of our Father that we come to know what it means to move out of the shadows and walk on as a daughter and a son. I see this to be the mystery Paul muses on within this passage; the understanding that in seeing God rightly, we then see ourselves rightly. To see, to sit, and to take in Jesus’ beauty, to really lean on His manifest presence, changes everything. We can never be truly left the same. In being captivated by Jesus, we are strengthened to put off the old man, and be “renewed in the spirit of our mind.” Thus, embracing and choosing the new man of whom we’ve always been created for. This ultimately and entirely transforms how we do community, how we do love, how we do life and breath itself. Our world is never the same as we taste and see more and more of what it truly means to be free in the love and identity of our Father.
And the best part is we need Jesus to see the Father. It is in the vastness of Christ Jesus’ love, that surpasses all knowledge, and cuts deep into your very heart, that you are filled with the fullness of God. What a mystery!
Prayer: Christ as a light, illumine and guide me. Christ as my shield, be the covering about me. Christ be under me, Christ be over me, Christ be beside me, on my left and my right. Be within and without me, lowly and meek, yet all-powerful. Be in the heart of all to whom I speak and in the mouth of those who speak to me. Let me never take Your blood for granted. Let me never take seeing You for granted. I thank you that I am a new creation, grafted in as one whole body to You. I thank You, Lord, that I belong to You, and therefore, I belong to a beautiful family of one mind and one spirit. Amen.
