The American Bible Challenge Bible Study - Part 1Sample
We’re back and it’s great to be with you. I pray this time has been helpful as we focus on forgiveness.
Our forgiveness through Christ has many dimensions to it. Through faith in Jesus, you are a member of God’s family. And, thanks to Jesus, you’re a family member forever!
So the rest of our lives are spent understanding what it means to be God’s son or daughter.
Even though we’re forgiven people, we still disobey God. When we do, we are reminded of our need for him. And when we ask Jesus to forgive us for those specific thoughts and actions, we have complete confidence he will. As we ask Jesus for forgiveness, we have the opportunity to remember the gift of his death on the cross that made that forgiveness possible.
We’re going to focus on one verse today. It’s a wonderful promise. It’s a great one to memorize as an ongoing reminder of what Jesus has done and continues to do for us.
Reflection:
How does this verse assure us that Jesus forgives us when we ask? Is it more natural for you to ask God for things (blessings, health, wealth, etc.) than ask him for forgiveness? Are there attitudes and actions that you want to confess to Jesus right now and ask for his forgiveness? After asking Jesus for forgiveness, thank him for his death on the cross that makes it possible.
