Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year OneSample

For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us (Romans 8:18).
Have you weighed your present sufferings for Jesus in light of the coming glory?
Paul suffered much! Observe that the word “suffering” is plural in Romans 8:18. He informs the Corinthians about his ministry in Asia, “that we were burdened beyond measure, above strength, so that we despaired even of life. Yes, we had the sentence of death in ourselves” (2 Corinthians 1:8-9). He catalogues the many afflictions he endured in 2 Corinthians 11:23-33. Yet he writes, “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory” (2 Corinthians 4:17). Paul’s eternal perspective “that all things work together for good” (Romans 8:28) has served him well. We should similarly adopt this mindset.
Employment Point: Evaluate your present trials in light of your future glory.
