Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year OneSample

For I could wish that I myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my countrymen according to the flesh (Romans 9:3).
What sacrifice would you be willing to make for the lost to be saved?
Jesus sacrificed His life for us so that we might be saved. The apostle Paul yearns for his fellow Jews to be saved; he’d be willing to give his soul for theirs. “Accursed” carries the idea that Paul would sacrificially dedicate himself to destruction for God’s sake. Clearly, the man after God’s own heart imitates the love of his Lord. Elsewhere, he writes, “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us” (Galatians 3:13). Moreover, his passion reflects the heart of God “who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” (1 Timothy 2:4).
Employment Point: Align your heart with God’s heart and long for the lost to be found.
