Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year One

DAY 210 OF 365

I will cry out to God Most High, To God who performs all things for me (Psalm 57:2).

What should you do from a cave?

Psalms 57 and 142 have the setting of David hiding in a cave for protection. Wisely, he turns to the Lord in prayer, “Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me! For my soul trusts in You” (Psalm 57:1). He knows that the Lord is on his side. “I will cry out to God Most High,” writes David, “to God who performs all things for me” (Psalm 57:2). During a perilous time, he acknowledges that his “soul is among lions” (Psalm 57:4), but exclaims, “Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let Your glory be above all the earth” (Psalm 57:5). Like Joseph who saw God working for him (Genesis 50:20), David also trusts “that all things work together for good to those who love God” (Romans 8:28).

Employment Point: Praise God, anticipating His deliverance while in a cave.
