Holy Spirit, Hold My HandSample
He Teaches Us Everything
A crowd of people whispered in awe in front of a tent. They all wait with bated breath.
The Israelites are journeying through the desert towards the Promised Land, waiting for Moses to emerge from the Tent of Meeting.
Whenever the Israelites had questions for the Lord, they needed to bring them to Moses. Then, Moses would walk out to the Tent of Meeting outside their encampment tents, and the crowd would follow him.
They would not enter. They merely waited outside. It was Moses who brought their problems and issues before the Lord. Inside the Tent of Meeting, the Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend. (Exodus 33:7-11).
Consider the Gigantic Grace we have today. Jesus explained the role of the Holy Spirit as our Counselor: “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth” (John 16:13a, NLT).
We no longer need to wait outside the Tent of Meeting because now our bodies have become the Temple of God, the Dwelling Place of the Holy Spirit, and here, within us, we have the Holy Spirit, to whom we can turn at any time for advice and guidance.
1 John 2:27a says that, “..the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, this anointing of the Holy Spirit teaches us about everything...”
Everything?
Yes!
Not just spiritual matters but everything around our lives.
There's a story about the first person recorded in the Bible experiencing the filling of the Holy Spirit. His name was Bezalel. Interestingly, this first account of being filled with the Spirit was about granting Bezalel skills in craftsmanship (Exodus 31:1-3). We might have thought this should have been for the priests, right?
But, no. Isn't this a great comfort for many who work every day in secular life, whether as teachers, doctors, accountants, homemakers, etc.? Knowing that the Spirit guides us in every step of our daily lives is also a relief.
It was God who equipped Bezalel by granting him skill and knowledge so that he could perform his tasks and even God who planted the seed of willingness in his heart to serve (Exodus 36:2). Ability and willingness are both gifts from God. Mind and heart, it is the Holy Spirit that energizes them.
Lastly, do you know the meaning of Bezalel? It means "in the Shadow of God." This reminds us that it’s all by His Grace, not by our strength or might.
May today’s Plan remind us to call upon the Holy Spirit, who walks alongside us, and seek His Wisdom at every step of our lives.
When we face tough or intricate decisions, whether at work, in family, in church, or when our hearts are troubled and uncertain, remember the Holy Spirit within us. Remember that we are in the Shadow of God, under His Guidance, and His Grace encompasses our hearts and minds.

About this Plan
Who is the Holy Spirit? Many Christians are more familiar with God the Father and God the Son but find the Holy Spirit somewhat mysterious. Jesus said that unless He departed, the Holy Spirit would not come. He is our Helper, Comforter, and Advocate - our Best Friend. In this 10-day Plan, we'll learn about the Holy Spirit and that He is your closest Friend.
