Parables - Wisdom for Life

DAY 5 OF 15

When we look at a beautiful, big tree full of green leaves and long branches, there is a whole other part of the tree that we can’t see. At the bottom of the tree are lots of roots. Tree roots anchor the tree in the soil so that the tree can stand up straight and not fall over. Tree roots absorb water from the soil so that the tree can be nourished and grow tall and strong.

We are like trees; where we plant our trust will determine how much we will grow. We can plant our trust in man or plant our trust in God. Putting our trust in man, in the wisdom of this world, makes us like a dry bush in a wasteland, dwelling in parched places, being nourished only by salty water and drying up in the heat. But when we trust God, we’re like a big tree planted by the water. Which tree would you like your life to be like?

Jesus told the story of two builders whose houses faced storms. The truth is we will face storms and heat waves in our lives, tough circumstances, trouble, sickness, or unexpected disasters. These storms or heat waves can either wipe us out, or we can trust in God, build our lives on His wisdom, and remain standing! God’s wisdom is the foundation for our lives.

About this Plan

Parables - Wisdom for Life

We can find wisdom for life in the pages of the Bible and in Jesus's parables. Discover that these parables are more than just interesting stories; they give us wisdom about how we should live our lives to be like Him. God’s wisdom is the foundation for our lives. We belong to the kingdom of God, and we have been found by Him.
