Parables - Wisdom for LifeSample

Jesus told many parables and stories to teach those who followed Him. In fact, there are 24 parables in the book of Luke alone! Jesus would use scenarios or objects that the people of that time would see or use in their everyday lives. We may not make our own bread or keep our own sheep, but the lesson behind these stories is just as relevant today as it was back then. We can still learn from them, but there is more to these stories than simply learning a good moral.
Jesus told another parable about a farmer who scattered seed. This story reminds us that we may hear the Word of God, but we need to keep that seed buried in our hearts, letting it grow and protecting it from things that might try to take it away.
Although we once were lost, Jesus found us so we could be a part of His kingdom. We should protect that by forming good habits. We can go to church, spend time with others who know Jesus, but most importantly, spend time with Jesus Himself. We can worship Him, pray, talk with Him, and read His Word, the Bible. God’s Word and the parables that Jesus told give us wisdom for life.
