There was a time when the Pharisees and teachers of the law got upset with Jesus because He was spending time with sinners. When Jesus heard this, He began to tell parables about three lost things: a sheep, a coin, and a son.
We have read the story of the sheep. A shepherd lost one of his 99 sheep, so he searched high and low for it. When he found the sheep, he was so happy he celebrated with all his friends and neighbours. He threw a big party!
Today, we’ll read the story of the lost coin. What do you think will happen when it is found?
Through these stories, Jesus explained that He and His Father in Heaven find lost people and celebrate when they do! Without Jesus, we, too, are lost, but we have been found by God.
