How do you feel when you lose something really valuable and important to you? What about losing your Nintendo Switch or something that costs a lot of money? What do you do when you can’t find it? You look high and low, search every part of your house, and try to trace back your steps to work out where it could be.

Jesus told three parables about lost things: the lost sheep, the lost coin, and the lost son. In each of these stories, something or someone very valuable and important was lost. You and I are a bit like lost sheep. At one time, we have all been lost and away from God.

When the man in Jesus’ story finds his lost sheep, he is filled with joy. He calls his friends together to celebrate. When a lost person is found, there’s a party in heaven. God searches for the lost. He knows us by name and wants to bring us home.
