Mothers You Are Not Alone!

DAY 3 OF 6

Your Best Motherhood Journey Awaits You

Any mother on this planet can experience the best motherhood journey if she asks for it.

I felt prepared to become a mother, fulfilling a lifelong dream by bringing two beautiful boys on earth-side. But through two hard, traumatic labors and a series of challenges postpartum, I quickly learned that all the parenting advice in the world could not truly prepare me for motherhood. I was in labor for 32 hours for my first child and 42 hours for my second, both delivered via C-section. In addition to the difficult labor, my firstborn never went into a deep sleep for months. He was waking up any time I put him down all night long. The lack of sleep was just killing me, and I was spending nights crying, not knowing what to do. Nothing seemed to go as planned.

It was a sobering revelation that parenting is an unpredictable journey, regardless of how prepared we believe we are. I wondered why life was throwing such challenges at me, but I had no idea that the best part of becoming a mother was still to come. Proverbs 16:9 resonates with me: "The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps." It gives me comfort in knowing that, despite my uncertainties, God is arranging my life in a way that transcends the difficulties of parenting.

The relentless challenge of a baby who refused to sleep gripped me in desperation. In those profound moments, as a mother, I was alone. In my tiredness, I failed to seek divine guidance and overlooked the support that I could have through God. My main challenge was not the sleepless nights but my unawareness to ask for assistance or help. As Matthew 7:7 states, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.” I missed the opportunity to turn and ask God for guidance, who could have provided comfort and assistance. My lack of awareness to seek divine help from God prevented me from receiving the necessary support. Matthew 6:33 serves as a great reminder: “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

Years later, I had the privilege of meeting my now friend Mathilde, a certified maternity nurse who offers a unique service: watching the baby overnight as the mother sleeps. This revelation made me revisit those challenging early years of motherhood. All those grueling nights could have been avoided? I realized that had I asked for divine guidance back then. I would have been led to the support I needed – a maternity nurse to alleviate the fatigue and sleep deprivation. This realization reveals how embracing divine guidance is about spiritual solace and recognizing practical solutions that may be present.

In sharing this personal journey, I desire for you, my fellow mothers, to grasp the importance of reaching out in moments of desperation, seeking relief or support in prayers and the support around you.
