Journaling Through Lent

DAY 27 OF 40

Remembering God’s Peace

In the most confusing and troubling of situations, the peace of God is almost like an anchor that grounds us and gives perspective. The peace God gives does not serve as a remedy for tough situations but rather a balm that soothes the broken or hurting. It’s more like a calm confidence that God instills in us that helps us to have the right outlook toward our suffering.

Philippians 4:7 says that the peace of God transcends all understanding. I’ve thought about this a lot. What does this mean? Does it mean that God’s peace is irrational and has no understanding? I doubt it. I think it means that God’s peace surpasses all understanding of every situation, despite how dismal. God’s peace brings calm and strength that outdoes the chaos and confusion.

If you’ve experienced the Shalom of God, His peace, so overpowering and comforting - you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about. I hope you take time today to celebrate and remember every turbulent time when you experienced the Shalom of God. Recall those moments of feeling His peace envelope you and thank Him for it.

Journaling Prompt:

Create a visual representation of God's peace. Use calming colors and symbols to convey the serenity and security found in His unshakeable peace.

About this Plan

Journaling Through Lent

This 40-day Lenten devotional will help you meditate on the themes of Repentance, Renewal, Remembrance, and Remission in the lead-up to Easter. Each day, you will focus on one theme, meditate on a portion of Scripture, and use a journaling prompt to encourage you to internalize what God is saying by expressing yourself through the creative art of journaling.
