Journaling Through Lent

DAY 15 OF 40

Renewal of Joy

Suffering and sadness are such an integral part of our temporary lives here on earth, but if our eyes are set on eternity, then we know that God is in control and our pain is passing. That eternal perspective should ideally fill us with joy, but this is easier said than done.

More often, when trials come, we forget our source and destination. We tend to focus on the problems alone. We can become swayed by the waves around us and begin to feel dismayed and dejected.

If this has been you recently, or if this is something you struggle with, I ask you to invite the Holy Spirit to fill you with His joy. Mind you, this joy is not happiness - it’s a deeper feeling of contentment in knowing our journey here in this state of brokenness isn’t a permanent thing. I pray that joy is restored in your heart today.

Journaling Prompt:

Create a visual representation of renewed joy. Use bright colors and uplifting symbols that convey the sense of joy that comes from God's salvation.

About this Plan

Journaling Through Lent

This 40-day Lenten devotional will help you meditate on the themes of Repentance, Renewal, Remembrance, and Remission in the lead-up to Easter. Each day, you will focus on one theme, meditate on a portion of Scripture, and use a journaling prompt to encourage you to internalize what God is saying by expressing yourself through the creative art of journaling.
