Awaken the Giant Within

DAY 5 OF 5

Day 5: Learning from Experiences as a Follower of Christ

Tony Robbins Quote: "Success is the result of good judgment, good judgment is the result of experience, and experience is often the result of bad judgment."

Scripture: Romans 8:28 - "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."

I love the Apostle Peter. He’s bold, courageous, and messes up - which is what I have done most of my life.

Peter began as a simple fisherman and became the cornerstone of the early church.

Despite his failures, like denying Christ thrice, Peter learned and grew from each experience.

His journey from a humble fisherman to a bold apostle is a testament to how God uses our experiences to mold us.

Peter's story reminds us that our experiences, even the missteps, are valuable lessons in God's hands.

Our lives are tapestries of experiences, woven with threads of joy, pain, success, and failure.

Each experience, especially the challenging ones, offers valuable lessons.

As followers of Christ, we are called to view our experiences through the lens of faith, understanding that God uses them to shape us into the individuals He intends us to be.

Our experiences, when surrendered to God, become tools for growth, wisdom, and deeper faith.

Learning from experiences requires humility and openness.

It means acknowledging our mistakes and being willing to grow from them.

It involves looking beyond the immediate pain or pleasure of an experience to see the deeper lessons it offers.

This process sucks, but it is essential for our spiritual and personal growth.

For those of you who are new and haven’t heard some of my history, allow me to share a bit.

I am not sharing this as a crutch, or “look at me”, or any of that. I’m sharing this with you because the Lord is a miracle worker.

I wish my childhood was easy.

I wish my mother didn’t get pregnant at 14 years old.

I wish I knew who my biological father was.

I wish my mother didn’t die of a drug overdose when I was 7.

I wish I had never messed around with drugs, alcohol, and girls.

I wish I had never lost a quarter of a million dollars in the stock market.

I wish I never lost my family.

I wish I was never fired.

I wish I was more humble.

I wish I never judged anyone.

I could go on and on about all the trash in my life, but that would only highlight the trash.

What’s most important is through all of that - the Lord used it for His glory. He molded and shaped my life into exactly what He wanted.

He shaped my destiny through the damage.

He rescued my life through the ludicrous decisions I made.

He kept me safe in the midst of the madness.

And I know, if he did it for me - He can do it for you.

Please take time with the Lord to review His goodness in your life.

Rejoice in the Lord always. Use everything in your life to the glory of God. He is with you. He is for you. He is on your side.

A few more questions to consider:

  • What recent experiences have taught you valuable life lessons?
  • How can you use these lessons to grow in your faith and as a person?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the lessons learned through my experiences. Help me to use them to grow closer to You. Amen.

Affirmation: "Today, I embrace my experiences as opportunities for growth and a deeper understanding of God’s purpose for my life."
