Encountering Jesus

DAY 28 OF 49

DISCOVER

Our busy lives are filled with noise, distractions, and constant demands, so to find a moment of stillness can seem like an impossible, daunting task. However, God's Word reminds us of the significance and the command to "be still and know that I am God." This verse is an intimate invitation for us to pause, quiet our hearts, and experience the profound peace and power that comes from being in the presence of our Heavenly Father and getting to know Him.

LEARN

David wrote these words while he was experienced a time of great turmoil and uncertainty. Yet, in the midst of chaos and fear, he found solace in the unchanging nature of God. This verse is a great reminder that no matter what challenges we face, God remains sovereign and in control. Whether we are in the middle of a physical storm like Peter, or a spiritual storm like David, He is in control. When we dedicate our time to being still with the Lord, we open ourselves up to His calming presence, His wisdom, and His guidance. In these moments with Him, we are able to hear His gentle voice, feel His comforting embrace, and receive His divine direction.

APPLY

Practicing stillness requires discipline and intentionality. Just like it takes work to develop a relationship with a spouse, friend, or neighbor, growing deeper in the Lord involves spending time with Him. How can you develop an intentional routine to spend time with God this week without distractions? Maybe you need to set time aside to be without technology, or maybe you need to spend some time in nature, communing with the Creator. Whatever form it takes, create a space to be still with the Lord and listen to His voice this week.

About this Plan

Encountering Jesus

Join us as we walk through seven encounters with Jesus. Just as Jesus transformed these individuals, the narratives of your shame, fear, guilt, and failure find redemption when met by the grace bought by His death on the cross. Your response to encountering Jesus has the power to transform the darkness of your story into a picture of grace, and redemption. How will you respond when you encounter Jesus?
