DAY 18 OF 42

Jesus, Jairus and the Bleeding Woman

Listen to "Jesus, Jairus and the Bleeding Woman":

Reflect

This story pairs two people who are desperate for Jesus to work. One seeks out Jesus publicly, the other attempts to covertly.

Consider Jairus. He is a religious leader. Yet, he is so desperate for Jesus to move that he puts his reputation on the line by seeking Him out. Can you imagine his joy when Jesus agrees to heal his daughter? What might Jairus have felt when Jesus paused to heal the bleeding woman? What may have gone through Jairus’ mind when he learned his daughter had died? Even if the path toward God’s will doesn’t go the way you think it should, are you willing to trust Him with your needs?

Now consider the bleeding woman. Imagine this poor bleeding woman’s fear and desire. Can you identify with her sense of shame and fear? None of us deserve Jesus’ love. We, too, like this woman, have much to be ashamed of, but we can freely reach out to Him confident He will listen and respond to our honest requests. Her faith healed her. In what way do you need healing?

  • What is something shameful you want to bring to Jesus?
  • Where are you, like Jairus, desperate for Jesus to move?
