Have you ever gone to the local gym after the first of the New Year?
The place is packed! Why? Because people have made New Year's resolutions to become more healthy.
However, it never fails that many individuals quit before they ever see progress. They aren't able to make the time to meet their goals, other priorities get in the way, or they don't see the results they want as quickly as they had hoped.
Maybe you've experienced this with a goal you've set in your life. Maybe you had a goal to submit ten college applications before your senior year. Maybe you had a goal to cut your screen time in half. Or maybe you had a goal to be more patient with your younger siblings.
Long-term goals are hard because impatience creeps in and tells us that we could do something better with our time. The same struggle can happen when it comes to sharing our faith. We want to see our friends make a decision to follow Jesus, but it just isn't happening as quickly as we'd like.
Sharing our faith takes hope and dedication. We may not see visible signs of progress, but God is doing more behind the scenes than we can see. So instead of giving up, we can trust that the Holy Spirit will help us be faithful. Being faithful means we don't give up when things don't happen according to our timing and plans.
Sometimes being faithful can be difficult, but our Scripture today reminds us that even when we want to throw in the towel, God's Spirit encourages us to keep sharing the Good News.

About this Plan
For the next four weeks, we'll follow the story of Samuel to see how God called him to share his faith through his words and actions. We'll discover how God invites us to share the Good News, see why sharing the Good News should start with prayer, explore what to do when sharing the Good News sometimes requires risk, and see how sharing the Good News can happen every day.
