DAY 4 OF 28

Have you ever caught yourself saying phrases like "I'll be praying for you" or "I'll call you right back" or "I'll check my availability and then get back to you?" Then, we forget to pray, never have time to call them back, or are too overwhelmed with our schedules to get back to them at all. We say these things to be polite, to show that we care and want to be helpful. But sometimes, we don't follow through on these things. We get busy with our own lives, and these promises slip our minds.

In Philippians 2:12–13, Paul reminds us that even though sometimes we mess it up, we are meant to put faith into action, to show up for others, and follow through with what we say. When we do these things, we not only put faith into action, but we can lead others and be an example to them.

What do you think it looks like to shift from saying these phrases as empty promises to making them a priority? That when we say we are praying for them, we take a moment to say a quick prayer right then, set up a prayer reminder, or jot down a quick note in our phones. Or that when you say you’ll follow-up with someone, make it a point to get back to them so it shows you value their time and care about them.

By following through on these promises, we can show people that they are important to us. Maybe by us doing that we get an opportunity to show them that Jesus thinks they’re important, too.

About this Plan

Most Likely to . . .

When you hear the word "leader," you might think about an influential celebrity, a famous politician, a coach, or your new class president. Great leaders don't have to have official positions, titles, or people who report to them. With God, being a great leader is something anyone can achieve because leadership is simply about becoming the kind of person who's worth following. But how?
