Jesus First: A Study on Ephesians

DAY 45 OF 49

Discover

In Matthew 4:1-11, we see that Jesus is taken to be tempted by Satan. It is no coincidence that right after Jesus is baptized, he is brought into the wilderness to be tempted by Satan. So often, Satan's schemes and attacks appear the most powerful when we have seen God work in a mighty way. This passage shows us that even the Son of God was not exempt from temptations; Jesus was physically, spiritually, and emotionally tempted. However, Jesus triumphed through the enemy's schemes with the power of God's Word.

Learn

Jesus was prepared to stand against these temptations because he had put on the full Armor of God. Jesus knew that he could not withstand the temptation on His own, and he took every temptation thrown at him as an opportunity to rely on God's strength. This gives us a powerful reminder that when we anchor our lives on God's Word, we can overcome any temptation that comes our way. So let us lean in as Jesus did to God's Word, for that is where our strength comes from and will lead us to victory even over the most significant battle.

Apply

Right after Jesus withstood the enemy's temptations, he stepped away and began his ministry. Have you ever thought about how when we say "no" to the enemy's schemes, we can say "yes" to God's purpose and plan for our lives? In what ways do you need to be armed in Truth today so that you can say "no" to your temptations and "yes" to God's call in your life?

About this Plan

Jesus First: A Study on Ephesians

There is no greater joy in life than one with Jesus first. The book of Ephesians teaches us that the gospel unites and motivates us to live for Christ. Through Christ's sacrifice, we receive God's love, forgiveness, and deliverance. This new identity in Christ calls us to imitate Him in all aspects of our lives, including our relationships and our battle against the darkness in the world.
