Living a Life Worthy

DAY 2 OF 6

Day 2: Prayer

Prayer is one of the easiest ways for us to communicate with God. In order to have a friendship with someone, you have to talk to and spend time with them. Our relationship with God is no different. In order for us to have a relationship with God, we have to get to know Him, talk to Him, and spend time with Him.

It is tempting to sometimes get discouraged and feel like when we pray we are just talking to a wall, but the Bible encourages us that God hears all of our prayers and wants to spend time with us. Prayer is like a muscle that grows as you work it out. The more you pray and talk to God, the easier it gets, the more you will see Him working in your life, and the more you will want to do it.

God hears our prayers and answers. Keep in mind, God doesn’t answer our prayers in the way that we want them answered, He answers them in the way that He knows is best for us and within HIS plan. Just like we mentioned yesterday, journaling your prayers is one of the best ways to be able to look back and see all the ways that God has shown up in your life and answered your prayers in a way that was so much better for you than you could have imagined at that moment. God's answer might be yes, no, or wait. Do we trust that no matter what His answer is, He knows what’s best for us?

Next Steps

My challenge for you today is to get a journal, maybe the one that you used yesterday to write down your prayer and start a prayer journal. You don’t have to use it everyday, but especially when there is something that may be a repeated prayer, it is helpful to write it out as a way of surrender. If Jesus often withdrew to pray, and even modeled prayer for us, we should also do the same and follow His example.

About this Plan

Living a Life Worthy

Throughout this six-day devotional, we will walk you through the basics of what living a life worthy of the calling God has given us as Christians looks like. We serve a God who is worthy to be followed, praised, and adored, not just because of what He's done, but who He is. Join us as we walk through five fundamental pillars of every Christian's life.
