ExodusSample
After the people’s reluctance to be a kingdom of priests that we read about in chapter 20, God gave a list of additional laws to the ten commandments considering the decision of the people. In our chapter today, we see this covenant is confirmed by God.
Because the people did not want the intimate relationship with Yahweh that Moses had, they needed “all the rules” (v3). We see in Jesus that if we pursue relationship with God and others, we do not need to be focused on lists of dos and don'ts, even if they are important. When we are in a living relationship with a holy God we are changed “from one degree of glory to another” (2 Corinthians 3:8).
The covenant God makes with Israel is confirmed by blood. Under the new covenant, we are accepted because of Jesus own blood as the perfect Passover lamb.
