P.I.E.C.E.S: 6 Steps to Healing & Building Confidence After Relationship Heartbreak a 7-Day Plan by Alicia Renee’ RobertsSample
E- Educate Yourself on God’s Promises
All promises cannot be relied upon, and if your heart has been broken, it likely resulted from a broken promise. One thing we can be sure of is that God’s promises are lasting and certain. He does not fail and will never let you down.
You may have felt like your significant other let you down when your relationship ended. When I went through a divorce, I felt like I’d let myself and God down, as I thought there may have been more that I could’ve done. Ultimately, as humans, we are flawed. We are not perfect and may fall short at times. Thankfully, there is grace and mercy, and God has no flaws.
As you navigate your healing process and restore your confidence, it will be essential to learn and repeat God’s promises to yourself often. Doing so will remind you that you are not in the battle alone. When you feel weak or unworthy, His promises will strengthen you and fuel you with the self-esteem needed to proceed.
Here are some of God’s promises that you can learn and carry in your heart:
Promise of Hope & Prosperity
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV)
Promise of Help in a Time of Despair
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10 NIV)
Promise of Peace
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” (John 14:27 NIV)
Promise of Favor
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” (Matthew 7:7 NIV)
Reflection:
What are some broken promises made by others that you have not let go of or promises you’ve made to yourself that you have broken? Begin to forgive and let go of each broken promise. Ask God to help you leave those in the past.
How have you seen God’s promises show up in your life?
