Jesus and PornSample
When you start feeling the urge to fall back into porn, remember that you have complete control over your thoughts and mind. Everyone experiences darkness in their mind. But when this hits you, give yourself a moment to clear your mind and think of what is pure, right, good, and holy. This addiction will take focus and time to move away from this sin. So, when sin knocks on your door (and mind), how can you resist it? The answer is to meditate. Meditate on His word, pray, and worship God. Replace the temptation to sin again with the goodness of God. Pivot the way you think and remember. You are in control of your thoughts and actions. It takes daily discipline to make something of practice into something automatic. Making something into a habit takes about 18-20 disciplined days. This kind of good is worth it! What can you do to think pure thoughts? It’s the same as yesterday. Pray, worship, and meditate on His Word.
In the Book of Colossians 3:2, Apostle Paul wrote, “Think about the things of heaven, not the things on earth.” He encourages us to think about what is Christ-like, right, and holy.
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will– his good, pleasing and perfect will.”- Romans 12:2
The Apostle Paul gave us more encouragement in the book of Philippians 4:8-9, “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and what is right, and pure and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me– everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.”
Daily Challenge:
Replace old habits with new thoughts. Train your thoughts to think about what is pure. Pray, worship, and meditate on His Word.
Prayer:
“ Father, I surrender my thoughts; my mind has not been pure. Lord, walk with me and lead me on what is holy and pure. Help me see things that are right. I thank you that you are the God who is loving, forgiving, and always faithful. Thank you, Lord, for not giving up on me on this journey. In Jesus’ name. Amen!”
