Romans - Part 1: SINSample
Romans 1:20 Choose the Promise!
The Book of Romans is powerful, from start to finish. Paul, the author, doesn’t beat around the bush. He is inspired by Almighty God to write Words of Truth, sometimes hard truth.
We find this in Romans 1:20. The author informs us that we, (all mankind), from creation until now, are responsible to acknowledge the existence and character of God.
There is no excuse for not doing so. None.
The evidence is clear; the beauty and wonder we see in all creation testifies to it. If you have ever witnessed the almond blossom season: simply incredible! Just recently our community was coming out of a severe drought, we prayed for rain weekly as a Church family for rain, and saw with our own eyes the rain and snow that we have long prayed for!
We see in this God’s mercy, God’s grace to us, God’s sustaining power. His creation screams to us each sunrise and sunset! All this brings us to what we call a “general or natural revelation” about God, stirring deep within us to know God. In this, God reveals His character and His existence.
Does God stop there? Leave us hanging? By no means! Through His divine power, His eternal power, and His love for us, God will provide a means for the Gospel to be heard. Jesus’ redeeming work is revealed; His sacrifice once and for all, for each of us, is made clear. Check out the amazing story of Acts 8:26-39.
Yes, God will provide the Gospel to those who seek it. This is a promise sealed by Holy blood and by an empty tomb. God leaves each of us the option to trade in our vile excuses for a sealed promise: to be a child of the King! Choose the Promise!
