Romans - Part 1: SINSample

Romans - Part 1: SIN

DAY 35 OF 35

Romans 3:19-20 A Dead Bunch of Guilty Zombies...

In today’s passage, Paul brings home a deeper truth regarding the Law. Coming off the searing ‘as it is written’ declaration of the universality of sin and of the depravity of the human condition, “whether Jews or Gentiles,” Paul gives clarity to whom the Law applies...to the Jews who were, famously, not very good at keeping the whole law.

Clearly and concisely, he declares with apostolic authority,

The entire world is guilty before God.

Thank you, Jesus, that you paid the impossible price to free us from a law we could never keep! We, humans, are a spiritually dead bunch of guilty zombies, no hope of ever being made “right” with God by doing great stuff and being nice. No excuses! James affirms this truth when he declares,

For the person who keeps all of the laws but one is as guilty as a person who has broken all of God’s laws.” - James 2:10 NLT.

The law is inadequate to reach the bar of holiness, and holiness is required to stand in the presence of a holy God. Can we obey enough of the law to ever be justified in the sight of God? Wouldn’t even one stain show up in the presence of His Shekinah glory? Nothing but The Blood can cleanse us clean enough to stand redeemed before the Father.

We each need Jesus on a personal, conscious, constant walk. We need to begin to live for Him and to trust Him and thereby glorify our Father in Heaven.

Let repentance start with us.

One of the best tag lines I have heard lately is, “Be the change you want to see.” Let’s do that by turning to Christ... the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
