Resilient: Powerful Hope in a Dangerous World

DAY 1 OF 45

I think many of us would agree that life can be full of some uncertain and challenging times. Sometimes, life can leave us with more questions than answers. It can be easy to lose sight of the hope and peace available to us when we believe in Jesus as Savior.

In his letter to the believers in the region of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, the apostle Peter reminds us of the incredible blessings and promises that are ours in Christ.

As we read through the first ten verses of 1 Peter, we will be encouraged and strengthened by the truth that God has chosen us, that we have an imperishable inheritance in heaven, and that we have a future hope that is secure and protected. We will also be challenged to consider the trials and difficulties we face in this life and how they are meant to refine and strengthen our faith.

So, let us come to the Word of God with open hearts and minds, seeking to be encouraged and strengthened by its truth. May the Lord bless us and keep us as we study his Word together.

Reflection Questions

  1. How does Peter describe the recipients of his letter in 1 Peter 1:1-2, and what does this tell us about their identity and circumstances?
  2. In 1 Peter 1:3-9, Peter emphasizes the hope and joy believers have in Jesus Christ, even amid trials and suffering. How does he describe the nature of this hope, and what role does faith play in it? How does this message encourage and challenge us in our lives, particularly when facing difficulties and challenges?
