God Is With You

DAY 3 OF 6

Day 3 – Verse 2

Today’s lyric looks and sounds like yesterday’s, but let me assure you that it has an entirely different set of challenges.

When you’re opposed from every side

Can’t keep your head above the tides

Don’t you know He is with you?

When reading this section, I immediately think about the story in Matthew that tells us about when Jesus walked out on the water. After Peter stepped off the boat and walked on the water to meet Jesus, the winds began to blow (the Bible says the wind was boisterous). Anyone who has ever been out in open water when the wind stirs up knows that the seas can get rough. Imagine the fear that must have gripped Peter as he started to sink.

And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” Matthew 14:22-33 (NKJV)

During Peter’s distress, Jesus was so close to him that He could lift Peter up by simply stretching out His arm. What started as one of Peter’s greatest acts of faith became one of his greatest moments of doubt. But even though Peter’s lack of faith caused him to sink, Jesus didn’t hesitate to stretch out His hand and pull Peter to safety.

And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Matthew 28:20b (NLT)

Whatever you’re facing today, no matter how hopeless the circumstances may seem, take comfort in knowing that you’ll never go through it alone, even if the situation is of your own doing.
