God Is With YouSample

Day 1 - Intro

Last year was particularly difficult for me spiritually, physically, and emotionally. When I encounter a challenging situation, my immediate reaction is to write a song. Sometimes the songs are prayers amid the battle I'm facing, but mostly they are songs of worship that help to remind me that I'm not alone. God is with me through every trial I face.

When we face a struggle such as an illness or addiction, our human tendency is often to retreat, isolate, or hide from everyone and everything. Our thoughts have us so gripped with fear as we imagine everyone knows what's going on in our lives that we pull back from those who care for us—even God. When this happens, the enemy is right there to feed into that lie.

John 8:32 (NIV) says, "Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." The truth is that no one knows what we're living through except for God. And he desires to help us out whenever we find ourselves in trouble. Jesus made us this promise in John 16:33 (NIV): "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."

For the next few days, I'd like to break down each segment of the song I wrote during my time of trouble last year. "He is With You" reminds us that we are never alone in life, no matter what. God is with us every step of the way—we need to acknowledge His presence and let Him lead us out of the wilderness.
