Gospel Formed Life

DAY 43 OF 56

Week 7: Ascension

Practicing Prayer

Did you know that almost every single account of the Gospel in the New Testament includes a line about Jesus's ascension to the Father?

After Jesus is resurrected and spins some time with his disciples, he eventually ascends into the heavens, where he is seated at the right hand of God. This seems like a tidy way to wrap up the story, but it's way more than that! As we will see throughout this week, Jesus is actively working for the good of the world. He is still working for the betterment of his body and for the glory of the Father!

There are many different ways this work is being done and many different elements to this work. We will see this week how Paul imagines us as Christians joined even with Christ in the ascension. Yet, for this week's practice, we want to focus on Jesus's active role in interceding for us to the Father. In Romans 8:34, Paul teaches that Jesus is still actively praying for the believers. He is at the right hand of God interceding for us. It's a fantastic thought.

Jesus is still rooting for you today and working hard for your best interest. He is still guiding you on the way to truth into eternal life. As the resurrected man and eternal deity, he petitions God on your behalf!

This week’s Gospel formed practice is prayer. Every day we will offer a different prayer practice. For today spend some time in prayer and focus on Jesus interceding for you.

About this Plan

Gospel Formed Life

The good news of Jesus the Messiah is not only an invitation into eternal life, but it is also an invitation into life in the present. Through the work of the Holy Spirit, God is forming us into the Gospel as well. In this eight-week series, we explore each dimension of the Gospel and how we can practice each of these dimensions in our lives today.
