Gospel Formed LifeSample
Week 7: Ascension
Power
My kids don't quite understand how electrical power works. They will take a toy and throw it across the room. It smashes into a wall and falls to the ground. They go to pick it up and press the button that should turn it on. Of course, it doesn't turn on, at which point they run to me. What do they say? It needs new batteries. Whether it is battery-powered or not, anything that doesn't work at our house always requires new batteries.
I don't know about you, but I often feel like I need new batteries! I feel worn down and tired. I feel just drained sometimes. I feel like the kids have thrown me against the wall too many times and finally broke some of my sprockets. It's not all the time, but a few times a year. I need some new batteries, some new power. Maybe the real truth is I don’t understand the power working in me either.
What Paul says about the power given to us in our relationship with Christ is remarkable. Today's reading focuses on the source of the power available to us as Christians and what this power has already accomplished. As you read it, meditate on the power made available to you through being Gospel formed into the ascension.
How does this passage recharge our batteries?
How does it build us up and give us new life?
For your prayer practice today, pray for renewed energy and strength. Pray to better understand the power available. Pray that Christ will empower you through the power that placed him where he resides.

About this Plan
The good news of Jesus the Messiah is not only an invitation into eternal life, but it is also an invitation into life in the present. Through the work of the Holy Spirit, God is forming us into the Gospel as well. In this eight-week series, we explore each dimension of the Gospel and how we can practice each of these dimensions in our lives today.
