DAY 42 OF 56

Week 5: Resurrection

The Resurrection Banquet

Were you able to take the Lord's supper in reconciliation and hope this week? Did you practice your resurrection while you ate? Did it taste a little sweeter on your tongue?

God's table stretches so far and reaches so wide. It is never empty, never even close to empty! The food never stops, and the calories never accumulate. God's invitation to this table was offered through the resurrection of Jesus before any of us had even been born! Hundreds of years before Jesus himself was born, the great prophet Isaiah depicted the same table with the same joyful hope. To end this week and our meditation on being united with Christ in his resurrection, we go back as we go forward, just as the resurrection is lived out both in the present and anticipates the future. So we find the same prophetic table in Isaiah 25.

As you read through the text, imagine yourself seated among all those who have called on the name of Christ! They are your brothers and sisters, your fellow heirs. Look around and imagine their faces smiling and laughing. Then look down and see your own hands reach for your eternal meal.

Place yourself at the table as you read through Isaiah 25 today. You are resurrected forever with Jesus to feast at his eternal banquet!

About this Plan

Gospel Formed Life

The good news of Jesus the Messiah is not only an invitation into eternal life, but it is also an invitation into life in the present. Through the work of the Holy Spirit, God is forming us into the Gospel as well. In this eight-week series, we explore each dimension of the Gospel and how we can practice each of these dimensions in our lives today.
