Stand Out

Do you want to stand out as a person who chooses to live like a kingdom person? This passage is for you! It is straight out of the ‘Kingdom People Handbook’! Your treasure is in heaven, not on earth – So live like it! No one can serve two masters – you can’t devote your life to the kingdom of God and the things in this world, like money, fame, food, drinks, or clothes! The kingdom of God leaves you satisfied, but trying to live fully in this world will leave you in the darkness (v. 23), full of hatred (v 24), and anxious (25-31).

Go Deep: What are you trying to hold on to in this world? Make a list of the physical items you wouldn’t want to give up. Okay, what about non-physical things like popularity, gossip, and lying? Make a list of the non-physical materials you wouldn’t want to give up. Now look at your two lists – draw a heart next to the ones that bring you or someone else joy. Draw an ‘x’ next to the ones that leave you in darkness, full of hatred, or anxious. Sit with God for a few minutes and review the list with Him. What things of this world do you need to let go of so you can live more fully in the Father’s earthly kingdom?

Be Bold: Boldly choose to live a life where people SEE God in you. Can you take it one step further and tell someone about your choice? Share your heart with one person today. God created us to live in community with other people. Tell your small group and choose to live like this together. Finally, ask God to show you someone in your community who doesn’t know Him. Pray for that person and ask God to use you to make Him SEEN in your life.

Memorise it: “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 5:33-34
