DAY 6 OF 30

When we think about the history of cultures all over the world, it’s important to know just how all of their traditions and legacies came to be remembered. While we do have quite a few historical documents that have been preserved over time, not many are left that show the very early history of civilizations. And what we do have that has been written down often isn’t a first-hand account but instead, a physical recording of a story that is passed down from generation to generation. Much has been passed down in the oral tradition—stories told over time by elders that established the history of a people. This was especially true of the Israelites. They wanted to pass along the stories of how God had saved His people so that future generations would know and remember and hopefully continue a relationship with God. They wanted the influence of what God had done in and through them—the works and mighty acts they saw firsthand—to continue long after they were gone.

Think about the story of your life that you would want to pass along to future generations. What would you want them to know about your life? As you remember big and small details, begin to write them out. It can be a bulleted outline, a fully-written story, or maybe even a letter to a younger person that you know. Keep this in a safe place and add to it as you grow in life and faith.

About this Plan

Influencers

An influencer has the ability to change our minds or make us try something new. And while we may think of an influencer as someone with millions of followers, the reality is we don’t need a big audience to be an influencer. In fact, God calls each one of us to be an influencer for good. In this devotional, we’ll see all the ways God has used people—even the unexpected people—to have an amazing influence on others.
