Messy Christmas

DAY 20 OF 21

There is something really cool about simple examples of what it means to follow Jesus. That’s what this verse is. Paul, one of the first leaders of the Christian church, is passing along some advice to Jesus' followers and the best part is- that it still applies today. Today, we can be joyful in hope by looking for the best, instead of the worst, in others. We can be patient in affliction by extending grace instead of forming grudges toward other people. And, we can be faithful in prayer by praying for those around us. Take some time this Christmas season to practically live out what God says is best. Remember, that part of Jesus’ reason for coming to earth was to show us how to truly live. Thankfully some of His closest friends and followers, like Paul, continued to explain what this looked like. Now, we get to choose to live it out daily.

About this Plan

Messy Christmas

“Joy to the world” is a catchy lyric, but real joy can seem totally impossible when life feels messy. When we think of “Christmas,” we think of “joyful celebration," but what happens when the holiday season doesn’t match what’s actually happening around us? We’ll discover that Christmas can still be a season of joy, even when life feels messy.
