Messy Christmas

DAY 19 OF 21

There comes a point in everyone’s life where talking to someone like a counselor becomes important. Someone who can serve as guidance but also be an ear for our problems. So, when this verse says that part of who Jesus is, is a “Wonderful Counselor”, that can mean a lot to us. This means that Jesus wants to guide us, support us, and be with us through all the ups and downs of life. I’ve come to learn at a young age that it can be unwise to ignore advice or guidance from a counselor. And as followers of Jesus, we receive guidance from our own “Wonderful Counselor” every single day and it’s up to us to decide whether we want to listen or not. We are given this guidance through reading the Bible, praying, talking to fellow Jesus followers, and following the example of how Jesus lived. Choosing not to pay attention to this guidance isn’t helpful if we’re wanting to experience the life we were created to live.

The God who made us wants to guide us to experience life like it’s supposed to be lived. Thankfully, we can look to Jesus to be our wonderful counselor who came to show us how to live life to the full.

About this Plan

Messy Christmas

“Joy to the world” is a catchy lyric, but real joy can seem totally impossible when life feels messy. When we think of “Christmas,” we think of “joyful celebration," but what happens when the holiday season doesn’t match what’s actually happening around us? We’ll discover that Christmas can still be a season of joy, even when life feels messy.
