Rule Book of Life - the Bible

DAY 8 OF 11

8:34 FAN or FOLLOWER

Life is full of difficult choices! It is easy to blend in; stay in our lane; not draw attention to yourself. I am just going to take care of “my area”. And we should take care of “our area”! But when we focus only on what is “mine”, we can very easily neglect the “we” aspect of officiating. It is often said that the priority for us each night is: game, crew, me. Focusing only on my plays leaves the crew extremely vulnerable to missing a key play. Let’s stay engaged with our partners every night. It may be the key to a “game-saving” play.

Run with the crowd or run with Jesus. The choice is ours. The cost of discipleship is HIGH. Grace is free, but it is not cheap. Walking with the Lord requires us to “take up our Cross DAILY”. That includes our discipleship walk during the season. It is easy to get caught up in the crowd, judge referees we do not like or care for, talk behind their backs, and even question why certain referees have been assigned to “THAT GAME”. The Lord calls us to put an end to those conversations. He has a purpose for everything & says to us two simple words - “Follow me” (John 21:19).

How can we stop those “judgmental conversations” that occur in locker rooms this season?

How can you better follow the Lord this season?

About this Plan

Rule Book of Life - the Bible

Sports officials are charged with enforcing the rules as written. We may not like all the rules but our job is to enforce every rule. Jesus says in John 14:15 - “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” We don’t get to pick & choose what to follow. Let’s look at some verses that help us to stay on the path of “keeping the rule book of life.”
