Through the Bible: Revelation

DAY 5 OF 7

The Wrath of God

And one of the four living creatures gave to the seven angels seven golden bowls full of the wrath of God who lives forever and ever, and the sanctuary was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from his power, and no one could enter the sanctuary until the seven plagues of the seven angels were finished. Revelation 15:7-8 (ESV)

In chapters 15 and 16, we are told that the wrath of God will be poured out. Painful sores will come upon the people who worshiped the beast. The sea, rivers, and water springs will turn to blood because the people have shed the blood of the saints (i.e., Christians) and prophets. Seeing people suffer and refuse to repent of their deeds is painful. At the same time, it’s comforting to know that our God is just and faithful, and in due time, He will judge those who mock Him and His believers.

In chapter 17, the great city with dominion over the earth's kings is portrayed as a prostitute. It is filled with abominations and sexual immorality. This reflects the current world where people are unashamed to flaunt their decadent and worldly lifestyles. Christians sometimes wonder why good people suffer and evil people prosper; but in verse 14, we are reassured that though the kings make war on the Lamb, the Lamb will conquer the kings, and God has the final say.

Prayer

Dear God, we rejoice that Jesus is the Lord of lords and King of kings, and those who follow You are the chosen and faithful ones. Let us not be confused at the events unfolding in the world but know that You are above it all and will judge at the appointed time. In Jesus' name, Amen.

About this Plan

Through the Bible: Revelation

Just as there is a beginning, there is an end. Revelation reveals how Jesus will come back soon to judge all evil, reward His followers, and restore the paradise He once created–a place without sin, sorrow, and death. Readers are promised with a blessing if they hear and keep what is written in the book. Despite its difficulty, this is undoubtedly a book worth our time to unravel.
